"Where...where am I?"
Awakening in the darkness of an endless black abyss, where space and time have no meaning, the man known as Anime follows a voice and a single light into a place existing only in his darkest nightmares.
A place called Threshold Mansion.
Once inside the Mansion, with no way back out, no memories of his past, and only his name, Anime must start to piece together his missing past one clue at a time, and not only discover who he was, but what happened to him. And most importantly, Anime must discover why he is trapped inside the Mansion.

"You can't get out the way you came. You must go forward to go back."
Threshold, unlike Lost Legacy, is inherently a very dark game, one that is more a story of personal horror and personal triumph than epic adventure. The main character will be forced to confront things about himself that are as ugly as the creatures he fights, and to descend into the depths of Threshold Mansion is to descend into the depths of one's self.
All during his exploration, Anime is constantly attacked by these unknown creatures called Quipploths, beings of pure entropic destruction that utterly annihilate anything they destroy. Anime can momentarily take refuge in other 'worlds' through 'portals', but sooner or later the Mansion calls him back.
It is not all darkness though, there is some light, in the form of people who will interact with Anime during his adventure. The various people want to help, hurt, or use Anime, so in the end, even with help, Anime must stand...
...alone.

"No matter what...you are not alone..."
As the player progresses through the story of Threshold, the game will switch at times to the story of someone else, a young woman named Nadia. Nadia's adevnture is The Other Side of the Story and plays out completely parallel to Anime's journey in Threshold Mansion. What Nadia's connection is to Anime, and how their stories connect, will not be realized until near the very end. At that point, Anime and Nadia's stories will converge, and unified as one, shall cross over...
...the Threshold!
